Gavin Newsom is the major candidate running for Lieutenant Governor of California from the Democratic Party. He is currently the mayor of San Francisco and has been in office since he was elected in 2003. He is running against Janet Hahn who is a member of the Los Angeles City Council. He is a strong supporter of the Environment and he possesses a strong Environmental Policy that focuses on the use of new energy sources throughout the state. His background of being a 42 year old, a member of the Catholic Church and a Democrat all contribute to the decisions and positions he takes on issues.
