Jimi Castillo--Positions

Domestic: His domestic policies are to fix the criminal justice system, establish better education system, and native rights. His criminal justice policies will one be more efficient. He believes that jail is ineffective and that sending on to jail and letting them back out is ineffective. There needs to be programs for criminals like parenting programs, medical programs (ex. psychology), and also cancelling of paroles. Many of the youth in jail do not have life skills and to make it by get involved in crime to get by. About 94% of the people who commit suicide in jail were mentally or physically ill. And paroles is supposed to be a chance for the person on parole to integrate into society, and with a constant watch that is impossible.

Education: School is another thing that must be changed. Jimi Castillo sees divisions among classes in schools, lack of life skills, and a lack of the arts. There is unfair treatment of people of different ethnicities or social classes. Many of the students should learn geography and more life skill classes. Most kids will not use what they learn in school today as a life skill. Also the art funds are being cut in most schools and he is fighting to stop that.

Personal: Last thing he wants to change is the respect of Native American land and their rights. For many years there has been toxic oil dumps near native lands, nuclear testing, and overriding of their rights. The toxic oil dumps and nuclear testing have been affecting the natives for many years and should not be allowed. Also by doing so the U.S. government is not respecting the Native American land rights. The Native Americans deserve their land after 500 years of resistance to European colonization.

Environmental: His environmental policy is to establish a stable atmosphere that humans, plants, and animals can live on, where on cannot live without the other. He is seeking to rid of both water pollution and air pollution. He seeks fund to find better renewable energy resources rather than oil which is polluting the air. He also wants to stop deforestation which promotes more CO2 in the atmosphere, because less trees means less photosynthesis (conversion of CO2 to Oxygen in plants).
